Put it where interest already exists
Useful places include vans, shop windows, invoices, quote folders, property boards and leave-behind cards. Estate agents can add one to a valuation pack, while tradespeople can add one to a van or site board.
Explain the benefit
Place a short instruction beside the code, such as ‘Scan for a callback’, rather than displaying an unexplained square. The QR printing guide includes the wording and spacing to use.
Test before printing
Scan the final artwork at arm's length, check the customer page on an iPhone and Android phone, and leave enough white space around the code. You can download a high-definition PNG or SVG from the Share Page.
Choose a place where someone can stop and scan
A van moving through traffic is brand awareness, not a practical scanning point. Try a parked vehicle, a quote folder, invoice, reception desk, property board or site notice where a person can pause. For a service business, the best placement is often the point where the customer has just seen the work and wants to ask a question.
Tell people what happens next
A square code on its own gives no reason to take out a phone. Put a short line beside it: ‘Scan to request a callback’, ‘Ask about a valuation’ or ‘Tell us what needs repairing’. Make sure the promise matches the page the code opens; do not send someone looking for a repair quote to a generic homepage.
Check the finished artwork before ordering
Scan the actual proof on more than one phone, in the light where it will be used. Keep the code high contrast and leave the clear border around it. Do not stretch a square code to fit a narrow space. If it is printed small, test from the distance a customer will actually stand.
Give the code a destination worth opening
The page should load promptly, show the business name and make the next action obvious. Try it on mobile data as well as office Wi-Fi. If the link changes later, check whether the printed code still points to the right page before ordering a large batch.
A quick checklist
- Place the code where a customer can comfortably scan it.
- Add a short instruction beside it.
- Test the final proof on different phones.
- Use the print files in the QR code guide and keep the code square.
